Enrollment Criteria
Heartland Montessori's Board of Directors determines the target number of students in each class based on the recommendations of the Head of School, the Guide, and the educational philosophy of the school. Enrollment decisions are made by the Head of School and the Guide in the classroom. In the event of a withdrawal, the Head of School will consult with the classroom Guide before deciding when (or if) the vacancy is to be filled.

The parent and child must visit the school for a pre-enrollment conference (which may include a tour, observations in the classrooms, and meeting with the Guide and the child) to ensure the program will meet the needs of the child and to better understand the philosophy and program. The Guide will also offer or recommend a home visit prior to enrollment. Parents will also have the opportunity to attend Parent Education events at Heartland that are offered throughout the year. Age/Maturation Level The child must be able to participate and substantially benefit from this program without risk to self or other children. These skills are generally evident around 12 to 16 months of age. |
Children's HouseParent Commitment to Montessori Education
The parent and child must visit the school for a pre-enrollment conference (which may include a tour, observations in the classrooms, and meeting with the Guide and the child) to ensure the program will meet the needs of the child and to better understand the philosophy and program. Parents will also have the opportunity to attend Parent Education events at Heartland that are offered throughout the year. Maturation Level The child must be able to participate and substantially benefit from this program without risk to self or other children. The child must be toilet trained, be able to communicate intelligibly, and be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of participating in the classroom activities. Age Children between the ages of 2 years, 9 months and 6 years attend Children’s House, and most begin between 2 years, 9 months and 3 years, 9 months. Children typically entering Children’s House attend 3 to 4 years before transitioning to an Elementary classroom setting. This allows for a balanced multi-age environment. |
If a place is not immediately available, you may request to be put on a waiting list. Children on the waiting list for the current year must reapply for acceptance the following year.
Children on the waiting list with siblings already enrolled at Heartland will receive priority in registration, provided there is an available place with age/gender specified.
